CHAPTER 7
Chapter 7: Professional Video
Editing
There is a
bunch of filters in the
Video
|
Filters
menu. So why do we need extra plug-ins for VirtualDub, especially where
some of them are similar to internal VirtualDub filters?
In some situations, applying an internal filter for optimizing an image
will not lead to good results (because of the internal algorithm, video
format, etc.). In such cases, we can try other filters that do the same
job in a different manner. Moreover, not all tasks can be performed with
VirtualDub internal filters and we have to use other plug-ins instead.
The plug-ins discussed in this chapter:
-
Remove
unwanted logos, dates, and areas from video:
DeLogo,
Logo Away, and
Region Remove
-
Provide quality handling like noise
removal (Chroma noise reduction,
Dot Crawl) and ghost
removal (Exorcist)
-
Do fun and artistic actions on video
like simple transitions (FadeFX),
half toning (Halftone),
rotating between various colors (Hue
Cycle), converting video mode from color to color bands (Luminescence),
and making videos look like old movies (MSU
Old Cinema)
These filters have their own
characteristics and developers. For each, a link to download directly
from the developer's website has been provided. I have used the latest
versions, but I strongly recommend that you check the provided links for
newer versions.
